"At least 3 squads of American Marines had breached our wire obstacles and
were setting up positions to fire upon our few remaining troops around the
hill and the surrounding jungle. We were in awe of bravery of their leader,
" Red Devil" according to his ID tags, as he dove over the wire obstacles in
front of him and directed his troops to fire on our covered positions. But
his efforts were in vain as the Marines were unable to put effective fire
down upon us and he soon met his end through several Banzai counter attacks.
In the end, neither side could secure the objective on the hill. Victory
might have gone to the Marines as their one remaining rifle squad supported
by a Mortar section outnumbered our last squad of Arisaka riflemen. But the
spirit of the Emperor must have been with us as a lone Honor-Bound Hero
emerged from our ranks, thereby giving us the strength prevail and claim
