Playtest 12JUN10 - Tom (British/Brunswick) vs. Mike
(French) |
Well by this point I've played near half
a dozen games of Lasalle...usually with me defending with
my British. For this next game, I wanted to try to attack
instead and my opponent Mike suggested that we try this
with me attacking from one narrow edge to another. Very
sporting of Mike don't you think?

The field looking toward where the French
would defend.
The French line with Polish Lancers on
the French right along with two Elite french Battalions
and on the French right three Conscript battalions,
artillery and Dragoons in reserve.

The
British mass on the left with Brunswickers following
in support. The British light cavalry follow just on
the other side of the stream waiting for the infantry
to open up a hole.

The
British advance on the left and mass all artillery
against thes Poles and French veteran infantry,

The
Poles charge in and catch one battery, but the other
withdraws and the British line easliy form square with
thier ""+1 Vigor" Sub-Commander's guidnace. The Poles
pick up some disruption but seriously stall the attack
of the best British infantry.

In
the center, the Brunswick elite battalion emerges from
the village while the Brunswick Hussars and Light Dragoons
exploit a small gap to press into the rear of the Polish
Lancers.

With
the Poles stalling the British effort on the left,
the Brigade to the right of the village, supported
by some Light Dragoons must press against the French
Conscripts.

The Brunswickers try to push in the center, but find
the fields very slow going.

On the Bristh lef, it's a "standoff" the Poles can't
break the British squares and the squares can't must
enough fire power to run of the lancers.
On the Britsih far right, an full assault is finally
pulled off. Surely, the French Conscripts will break!
On
Conscript battalion does break, but the others,
even when in square, mange to repules the better
British line battalions.
Thus the battle ends on turn 19 as a draw. The
British attack on the left never got through the
Polish Lancers, the Brunswickers in the center
were largely mired in the muddy fields whic reduced
their speed and combat power when they finall attacked.
The British right saw limited success, but it came
too late in the day.
Well...the good news was it was not a loss...making
this the first game that Tom did not lose playing
Lasalle. He must be getting better!
